Hardware Repair

When your computer turns on for only seconds or not at all, Or never shows you anything but an error message or a black screen, It's probably because of an internal Hardware failure.

The pieces of hardware inside your computer are all dependent on each other; if even a single part fails you can start having unexplainable system bugs, getting start-up errors, your system may do nothing but turn on and never display a single thing just an empty black screen, it may even turn on and then off seconds later or do absolutely nothing when the power button is pressed.

When a piece of hardware within a computer fails you have two options: try to replace it or start shopping for a new system. The sad reality of hardware failure is that the failing componet may be in high demand, no longer produced, uncommonly used, or simply not available from any of the common hardware sources. Any of those factors could all mean anything from cheap prices, inflated prices, abundance, scarcity, to simply not available anywhere.

Replacement parts may be more expensive to replace than the computer is worth either because of demand creating an inflated market for a popular system with a common hardware failure or because older hardware is just more likely to fail. If the system is showing signs of old age, it may just be better to look for a new computer because chances are the replacement hardware available is just as worn out. Rather than paying to fix old hardware using other old hardware that will just fail again soon after is a waste of the money you could've put towards a new machine and you will eventually have to buy a new computer.

Computer componets can be hard and even dangerous to replace if done by someone inexperienced with handling and installing these fragile highly sensitive devices that, under certain circumstances, will be ruined just by someone touching them.

In the case of laptops and other size constrained electronics the hardware used consists of compact close fitting pieces almost always unique to each different device model; this fact makes it highly dangerous and very reckless to attempt a repair if you're unqualified for the task of disassembling it safely, replacing the damaged hardware correctly, then reassembling the various sizes of screws and specifically layered parts in the exact way they were using the proper screws where they were intended to be used while also connecting the many fragile connections for the different components in the right and often difficult to reach place it must go.

Compact devices using unique hardware makes finding replacement parts much more difficult as well as making it a lot harder to determine the quality of the purchased hardware. You could end up getting something taken from another machine by someone who didn't properly handle the hardware during or after it's removal; this could be anything from another completely useless component like you already have or it could be damaged in a way that when it is installed it causes further damage to other components leaving you with more to fix!

With all the complications involved in diagnosing, removing, and installing replacement hardware, you may be feeling slightly discouraged about the chances of saving your computer; but you shouldn't be! You now know that repairs can be quite a task depending upon many different factors. You know that they can go terribly wrong or simply take a lot of care, patience, and nimble fingers; but just remember one thing, knowledge is power! You now have the power of Think Smart knowledge on your side and with a single phone call we'll be right there to take care of everything! You may have the knowledge and we believe you probably could do it without us, but you shouldn't have to; let us handle the boring stuff, it's what we do and we do it for you. We do it so that you can focus on what you do, not worry about a broken computer.

If you have a newer computer, or want to keep an old one limping along for a little longer, we're right here ready to help. We'll test the machine to find what has failed and, if the replacements can be found at a price you're willing to pay for reviving the system; we'll order what is needed, our experienced technicians will safely replace the components, we'll test the system, and do our best to get everything back to how it was before the failure.

Wait, what was that? You don't have to do a thing and your computer is restored as best as possible to the same perfect working condition as before it died? Now that really is thinking smart!
